The West Springfield Public Library administration is proud to
announce that the library is now on the World Wide Web. To reach the
library home page go to http://www.wspl.org. Although the page is a
work-in-progress there are some very helpful links available even now.
When you scroll past our "Under Construction" sign you will find
links to Search Tools and some Links for Kids we think you will find
most useful. Continue along the page and you will find that, from
your home computer, you will be able to search the library's on-line
catalog of holdings and the holdings of every library in the C/WMARS
system.
The library's home page also has a link to various databases of
information though a licensing agreement by the Western Massachusetts
Regional Library System. You will be required to enter your library
card number to use the InfoTrac system. Included are six very useful
databases for your educational and personal research. Need a library
card? Stop by the library with proof of address and it's free!
InfoTrac includes Contemporary Authors with biographical and
bibliographical information on approximately 100,000 U.S. and
international authors. Use Predicasts PROMPT to research companies
and technologies and the markets in which they compete. It has
information from 1,000 business and trade journals and other business
publications. General Reference Center (Magazine Index) has
indexes to current magazines, reference books, and newspapers on any
number of subjects. (Looking for a new car - how do your current
choice stack up? How about that great barbecue recipe you saw in a
popular magazine but neglected to save? Working on your advanced
degree and need to put in some research time but the library is
closed at midnight?) This database goes back to 1980. Expanded
Academic ASAP also has a back file to 1980 and up to the current
issues with information on many academic subjects. Health Reference
Center is very useful to keep up to date on what's new in the field.
General BusinessFile ASAP is of great use to people working in the
business world, investors, or students of business.
To help you keep up with other events in town, the library has also
included a link to the home page of the Friends of the West
Springfield Public Library and to the Town of West Springfield
pages.
This temporary page was developed by Assistant Director Nancy
Dellapenna. She is supervisor of the Design Team that is working on
an expanded version of the page. Consider making the West
Springfield Public Library Page your browser's "home" when you next
go to the web. In the near future you will be able to check out
other sites that the Reference Department have found especially
useful in answering your questions. We hope you will come back and
visit often to see what's new.
